Compeq Manufacturing has decided to further expand its capacity for high-end HDI PCB at its manufacturing base in Chongqing, China next year to meet persistently strong demand for diverse applications.

The company said it will finalize the related capital expense plan by the end of 2021 for the capacity expansion at its second Chongqing plant.

The company has reported its third-quarter 2021 revenues jumped 42.05% sequentially and 4% on year reaching NT$17.553 billion (US$629.36 million), the second-highest level on record, with net earnings shooting up 90% sequentially to NT$1.566 billion. Its combined sales for the first nine months of the year rose 2.19% on year to NT$43.318 billion.

Compeq attributed the impressive third-quarter revenue and profit gains mainly to its robust HDI board shipments for new handsets, notebooks, tablets and wearable devices released by its major US client, and partly to fulfillment of the client's new flexible PCB orders for handset battery and TWS (true wireless stereo) device applications.

The company said it has not seen any notable adjustment in order placements from clients with demand for HDI and flexible PCB products to stay strong in the fourth quarter. Over the past year, it has managed to minimize the impacts of components shortage and other negative factors through flexible capacity allocations, agile inventory management and close communications with clients.

Bolstered by its solid PCB manufacturing technology and experience, Compeq is expected to land new PCB orders from US clients for low-orbit satellite communication and metaverse-based wearable device applications in 2022, according to industry sources.
